grooved discs are good as they de-glaze the pads as they rotate and dispel the gases that form between pad and disc (reduces the chance of turning pad material into granite and car not stopping....). They can be a bit squeely though (note technical term ).
Id stay away from drilled ones tho, as they do tend to crack and warp easier, altho they do look trick.
