Default chassie???

sup, call me as thick as a whaile omlette but was there any particular reason why the chassie at the front of car on both sides was left open??
i've made caps for them but thought i'd better ask first before welding them up, all i can think of is it was for the assembly line. asking for trouble i think with them open.
any ideas??
thanx

I think its to let them drain off but TBH as long as they have holes on the bottom they will be ok. Silviagod has followed them on to the end of the floor pans on his cars to stiffen up the chassis
