I would say check the pipes again. It may have a splitt in it somewhere. Other than that it would probably be your air flow meter or pipe between the air flow meter and turbo or the plug on the air flow meter. You may of knocked it off while refitting the other pipe.

If its the standard steel pipe from turbo to inlet, these are crap to be honest. There should be a nice rubber bung to make the seal on to the turbo. This could be the issue. Also at slight increases of boost, these have a habit of popping off creating the symptoms u have

ive had a look at this, but its been dark both times which hasent helped......and everything seems to be on fine its a low mileage minter with NO rust anywhere, all the connetors look mint etc.....it just turns over and sometimes coughs into life for a few secs then dies.....i pulled the ecu out to see if it would give any clues and all i got was a 44, which i belive means OK.

any ideas

edit; oh yeah and its a compleatly standard auto, stock boost everything

If its nothing of the above and you definatly refitted everything you removed or had popped off then its got nothing to do with it and you need to test everything from scratch

Starting off with......

Is the battery and alternator outputs ok
Have you knocked a dizzy connector off or damaged you king ht lead etc

Then go through and check every connector and join you see and try different air flow meters, coils if you have spares etc

There are 2 fuse links that run off the battery its worth checking these. Check them with a test light but move them around at the same time to ensure they dont cut out with vibrations. The connectors can go bad but its an easy fix.
