Default Random turbo thoughts.

This is kind of a passing whim, but I'm tempted by the idea as an "I have to try it" thing...unless anyone can save me the effort by knowing better!

I was aware of the fact that you can combine bits and pieces of T25 and T28 turbo's for some interesting results. (Sort of "ghetto" hybrids).

Now I have a fubared T28 and a T2, what do you reckon the result would be of using the T2 exhaust housing, and the T28 inlet housing with respective blades?

I'm thinking it would lack puff at the top end, which is not a massive issue, but would it come on boost real hard and pull hard pretty far through the rev range?

Thus making for a really fun to drive car.

i had a roller bearing t25 with a t28 exhaust housing on an s12 i had once.
It performed well along with a fmic and standard ecu/fuelling.

Yeah...I had one when I was 18 with a t25/t28 hybrid on it, but no FMIC, and therefore not much boost. So I didn't ever really get to see the end result. I'm tempted to go with that option again, but maybe with a 360 degree thrust bearing this time, FMIC and probably some 444's etc. to see what it's like.

I've just never seen a t2/t28 hybrid, although there's probably a really good reason for it!

at a guess i would think the reasoning would be that the t2 exhaust housing would restrict the output of the t28 intake. Gases expand with heat..........so having a matched or slightly larger exhaust housing has similar gains to say fitting a bigger bore exhaust system.

Yeah I was thinking alongthe lines of what you're saying pukka, just thought I'd chuck it up here and see what other people thought.

Might well go with a 360 degree thrust bearing T25/T28 hybrid, as that was ace on the one I had about 4 years ago. Never got to see the full end result though.

Management wise I'm spending a fair bit of time pikeying around the t'interweb for options at the moment, although the two choices that keep springing back to me (partially for the "bang for buck" factor) is either going to be Megasquirt, 'cos I've fancied doing one for ages, and never got round to it. Or possibly Nistune, but I've never seen Nisture on an S12, so there may well be a good reason for that!

Any thoughts/experiences. I've played with a couple of different management systems and engines, but never got as far as doing my old S12, just ran at low boost, before I had to get rid of it
