Hi just wondered if anyone had fitted a water injection system to prevent detonation - I was thinking of making up something to spray water into the air intake when the boost pressure goes over say 6 psi..hopefully should allow me to run std. unleaded and more boost or is that a totally mad idea

Water is like nitrous it doesn't flow evenly through an Intake manifold. If your going to build a system build direct port like this. http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/waterinjection.html

I had a water injection system then decided to sell it.
You only get benefit from it if you are really close to detonating. Some people use it on a track for preventative measures, but its actually been shown to reduce power when used like this. But obviously reduce the risk of anything naughty happening. |

Hi, thanks to everyone that replied !. The off the shelf systems seem really expensive so I think I will try to make something up with an old electric fuel pump, string and selotape etc....I might splash out a bit more if i can get my flooding engine problem sorted. Thanks again
