Default pinking..

i get the detonation rattle during acceleration, before it gets to full boost, its not loud as proper det, can only hear it when driving next to a wall or fence. im sure i have heard it a few times, but wasnt sure, i havnt change anything timming wise on the engine in 5 years, but i havnt changed the plugs in bout 3 years so as im running about 10-11 psi boost, what is the best setup for the timming at idle to make sure i keep the acceleration but lose this worry about det.

cheers guys.

have you checked your fuel pressure ? people usually set there timing at around 17.5 i think, i never bothered though, i left mine at 15 degrees on the std ecu to save the hassle of dettin, why not have it set up on the rollers and check everything is ok.

coz the turbo is fooked atm, and if they put it on the rollers, they wouldnt be able to see the screen getting mt T25 sorted soon, blackpool turbos have quoted £250 all cleaned, and new bearings and seals. then comes the little mods to fit the bugger.

just a little concerned about the det sound, may check the timming tomoz. will put it at 15 deg, as im running unleaded.

Higher the RON rating on the fuel the less likely it is to pre-ignite.... run the Tescos Special brew, it's good stuff!
