Default Track days

What's it all about then?

Track days give you the chance to fully explore the performance of your car in the relative safe environment of a race track. You can be sure that they'll be no pedestrians around the corner, no parked cars, no GATSO cameras and no speed limits. With the smoothest one way streets in the country, you can push you car to the limit and find how it really behaves under stress.

. Preparation

Obviously your car should be in top condition prior to participating. Get your car checked out a few weeks prior to the day. Particular attention should be paid to the state of your brakes and tyres which will be stressed more than they ever are on the public roads.

On the Day

On the day you should increase your tyre pressures by about 10% to stop the side-walls flexing. You'll have to put tape on all the lights on the car, so that if they break glass isn't scattered all over the track. The oil level should be topped up to maximum. This provides some protection against oil starvation when in long corners with the oil surging to one side of the engine.

Take it Easy

When out on the track, don't be tempted to stay out for too long. Depending on the organisation, you might have the opportunity to stay out for up to half an hour at a time. If you feel your brakes are starting to suffer or if you're starting to make mistakes, leave the track and cool off!
Remember most road cars aren't designed for prolonged stresses and the brakes and engine will need to be cooled between sessions. On your last lap of each session, take it easy and let your brakes cool before you get back to the paddock

NOTES

So what's crucial to the safe enjoyment of a trackday?

"The driver must have a full licence. There is no need for a race licence, because while you'll be driving fast - and getting faster - you'll not be racing. You must wear a crash helmet . You must also wear long sleeves and long legged trousers

S12oc Trackdays are always friendly and not of an aggressive nature. We all take pride in our vehicles and do not wish them to be damaged by someone else driving recklessly or aggressively. The events are organised for pure fun,not competitivness against each other. If you do come off the track try and rejoin the track safelty as soon as possable so that the session does not get flagged. Claire will normally take photo's at these events which will be uploaded onto the internet within a few days.

so are there any s12oc trackdays in the near future?
ive done a few drift days, and got on quite well, and will probably be doing alot of drifting this year, but i wouldent mind doing one or 2 trackdays as well, seeing as my cars stripped, harnessed up, etc it'd be rude not to

At the moment all efforts are on organising Jae and Modifed nationals. Modified Nationals is also a friendly track day.

If you have any event suggestions then please put them up in Events section and if there is good interest we will do our best to have a stand there if there is need for one or assist in organising and getting everyone together.

Were you enquiring on a s12oc club only event at Dunsfold for example?
