Default Dash boost gauge

How does the dash boost gauge read pressure is it connected to a vacuum pipe? If so where does it run from? The dash boost gauge is not moving it's staying on 0 while the boost gauge I've fitted reads a vacuum but not boost so I'm thinking that the dash one must have a leak somewhere.
Thanks in advance.

the dash one is piped from the brake servo unit, there is a pipe that comes from the inlet to a T adaptor, from there a big pipe goes to the brake servo, and a little one goes off to the right along the back of the engine bay, it then goes into a brown round plastic "thingy" and then continues to the boost sensor below the windscreen wiper motor, its quite a big ish black box on a bracket, if you look it does have boost sensor stamped on it.

mine had a naff pipe going on the brown round thingy.

boost gauge needs to be piped between the Throttle butterfly and the engine, basicly on the inlet manfold, so it measures boost and vacum.

circles from left to right

1. junction where little pipe comes from

2. Brown/black thingy (mine had perished rubber pipes each side)

3. Sensor box is behind the power steering resvoir

hope this helps.

Job done the pipe had split where it comes off the brake servo, trimmed about 5mm off put it back on and the dash gauge works perfectly. As to the one I've fitted the needle is sticking on lose glass but the bezel won't tighten or come off to fix this so looks like new gauge time.
