Default fj20 head flows its tits off

right, the fj20 head flows 129cfm as standared @ 10.25 lift, but the ports are that large that if to much is taken out, it would slow the air speed, so they have been reshaped and slightly ported on the inlets, now with bellmouths it has seen 143cfm @ 10.25 lift, it saw 150cfm @ 11.00mm lift, and just carries on flowing the more you lift it, but 10.25mm is the highest lift that they do, but this is before the 3 way seats have been done, so we are expecting around 150cfm anyway, the biggest job has been done on the exhaust ports, i've got about a cup full of ally that has come out of them,Andy @ AMT engines thinks by comparing the evo head which only flows 117cfm as stock, says that the evo head would never flow like the fj head, so the evo would have to run much higher boost to achieve what the fj engine could on lower boost, making the fj a lot more reliable motor, he said that a 1000BHP is not unrealistic if i wanted it, so watch this space

If you look at the designs of the paths, leading from outside the head down to the valves, there is very little change of direction. The inlet side goes in at like 30 degs downward towards the valves, so there is very little change of direction of the airflow, especially as the valves are angled themselves. Its a much better head than the CA18DET and SR20DET.

not sure what pressure it was done at, but andy has done a peugeot 16 valve turbo conversion in a 205 and he said that the fj head is flowing slightly more air than the pug on his flow bench, but there are more higher lift cams availible for the pug.
