Default Beginning to modify - advice?

Hi all.

I'm looking at buying some bits and pieces to start modifying my MK2 at some point, and these were the sorts of things I was looking at, any advice, feedback or suggestions? Price is a major factor at the minute, so I'm looking at picking things up to fit them at a later date.

Induction kit
or replacement filter?
Boost gauge and controller

I understand that new spark plugs and some adjustments to timing would also be needed? I'm pretty much a noob at cars, and this is what I've gathered from reading various threads, including this guide.

Cheers, Mike.

hi,personally as a starting point the first things i would do to help with the breathing of the engine would be to fit a induction kit(not the ones you have to oil and not a replacement filter either)and a large bore exhaust system,i would fit these before anything else

Cheers for the reply; I'm waiting for a guy to get back to me about a possible second hand SS exhaust.

On a different note, would a brace like this fit an S12?

you'll need an S13 one that's adjustable (like a discontinued cusco adjustable S13 front bar)

The reason being that the angle of the strut tower tops differs between the S12 and S13.

As for no oil charged filters...good rule of thumb. I use an oiled Ractive filter and dont' really have any problems. But he's right. You should use something like the HKS mushroom filter that's dry.

10psi on the stock engine and turbo isn't that big of a difference until you start doing some more supporting mods....like an intercooler, larger exhaust system and a larger turbo(which really isn't a SUPPORTING mod but it's one to liook into heh)
