Default new wheels!

bought some wheels today that were advertised as 17x7s! didn't bother checkin them as was half asleep but got them home and had a look and it turns out they're 17x8s(super advans)! not sure wot offset but they r 4 stud and came off an r33 skyline! does any1 know if i'm gonna have problems with rubbing and best tyre size? i was thinkin 225/40/17!

you need to know the offset to tell if you are going to have problems with rubbing.

215/40/17 toyo proxes would be a good choice

You could go wider than 215's on 8" rims. As above though the offset will determine a lot, although I'd wager that they'd be ok coming off an R33.

Are you about at work Tuesday afternoon? Might come up and get the front pipe after I land at Gatwick.

Yes he can go wider than 215 wide but from experience It makes the drive boring, road feedback is numbed down and the steering is heavy and suffers alot from tramlining.

Getting a decent brand and compound of tyre is twice as important as the tread width

they've got 235's on then at mo and just thought a 215 might look a bit stetched on an 8" rim and a 235 is more likely to rub! just had a look and think the offset is 32!

was cleanin the last 2 of my wheels today and noticed that 2 of them r 17x8 and 2 r 17x7!
so went to my mates where my car is and put the 3 with tyres on and fitted fookin perfect and fill the rear arches lovely! even the 235/45/17's on the back don't seem to catch on the body! tyres r way too big for the car really but they fit and i'm a bit skint at mo so they'll have to do til i can afford somethin more apropriate!
Mmmmmm toyo's
