Default Who remembers the day's when...

1, You'd search 'Silvia' on ebay and all you got were S12 related stuff

2, You'd search 'Syliva' on ebay for the mis-spelt S12 stuff and you'd also find Sylvia Saint porno's.

3, Pete Rosenburg didn't screw you over

4, All we had was club-s12 for info

5, The NTOC was in existance

I remember searching silvia and pretty much only finding silviagods site and dens silvia shrine......

I remember when i set up my first s12 uk forum called speed-junkies, it got hacked by some arab hacker club over and over again......

I never gave a penny to rosernburg but i do remember dr silvia waiting 2 months for an exhaust system from them and when it turned up it was crap, even the tailpipe was mild steel and rusty lol

I bought the spoiler and splitter off silvia engineering. Think the spoiler was 180 and the splitter was 175. It came with that many cracks and poor finishing it cost me as much again to have it finished off. Those were the days when I was a bit green and did'nt have a go myself. Seem to have gone full circle now! lol!

In the end a girlfriends (at the time) dad fitted it all for me and sorted it out at his garage. I had the spoiler blended in.

I then found Norris Designs. Simon Norris was a really helpful guy in the early days of his business. He rebuilt the bottom end of my current engine and sorted out some problem that had happend when silvia engineering had built it. This was when Den owned the engine. Norris Designs fitted my omex system into it aswell.

It was quite funny at the time as I had an omex 500 system fitted purely becuase the crappy garage I was dealing with close to my house couldn't get the emissions down enough to pass the mot! So off it went all the way to Wiltshire to have the omex fitted. I must admit it spooled up far quicker with the omex on.

those were the days!...............

I remember when it took 6 months for SE to send me out their first ever stainless exhaust (after 25 phone calls ).

Having to turn down the mixture to get the car through the MOT, driving round the corner and turning it back up again.

When Den`s Silvia Shrine was always updated .....lol....

And when people in Rochdale thought my s12, was some sort of Toyota .

Regards,
Ian.

Default Billing

Billing was f**cking brilliant, me and Shaun and a few others once put a picnic bench and as many beer bottles on it in front of a guys tent, Biggus he was called, class atmosphere friendly ,good drunken nights there ,well worth the drive down even if it was just a day drip the first few times there, Peter Rosenburg used to have guy called Dave that worked for him and he would give you free advise, if Pete heard him on the phone he would say it was his mam, LMAO,

those were the day,

LMAO! - what a great thread - I've come over all nostalgiac while reading it, but looking back on it, no. 3 was NEVER true (It felt like it at the time, but I still remember my smashed window - due to his old place having ZERO security), and being charged by him for a seal that was damaged from (get this!) the window they tried to replace without my knowing, but f*cked up, hence driving along at 40, thinking "I'd better close this window", pushing the button, and it promptly trying to close AND falling out!!) - sore memories indeed, along with god-knows-how-many-times doing the 320 mile trip to his, only to find the car smoking and running crap, then driving home minus it once again!)...

Oh yeah, and his later premises, and the 100+car looooooooong-stay carpark!... EIGHT to NINE months to get my car back the once!

But yeah, Billing was great - was a good family location too, and then there were the pubs, hotell, fairground, etc - Shame it moved, but then again, Billing were getting more and more arsey, unappreciative of the clubs/event/business, and more and more restrictive - remember the one year, getting bogged down after it chucked it down relentlessly, and us all getting warnings and threats for 'messing around' when we 100% weren't - We were just driving out of the 'pond' they've pushed the NTOC into! - Then remembering us all being shoved to the outer areas to allow all of the traders to take up the nice 'meadow' bit in the middle... Grrr!

Ah well - glad some people remember my glory days , and my woefully neglected Silvia Saint (erm... Shrine)... lol! - I definitely remember finding HER in abundance, but nada on our S12's, getting really peed off, and it's what prompted me to start the Shrine in the first place!

Glad I met loads of great, like-minded friends (Looking at you all here!) through it, and yep, it's mad to think back and remember a time when Gripo, Shaun, Pukka, etc were just *thinking* of getting Silvia's, and I'm over the moon they went out, got into them, and never looked back....

Yep, Club-S12, and NTOC - Have to see how Keith and Sandra are doing - not seen them for AGES, and Keith might have had his stressed out moments, but he's a good bloke, and always tried to install that club feeling (oh, and took a LOT of stick from us, most of which he took really well!).... So Pukka, feel familiar mate?... lol!

Anyway, yep, good (and bad) times and memories, but I'm thankful that:-

1) We have our OWN dedicated S12 club now - Thanks to Pukka!

2) We learnt to stop bending over and letting Rosenberg and other cowboy outfits keep shafting us! - My thanks especially to all of the people on here with a wealth of rare knowledge, and more importantly, the community spirit and inclination to dish it out on request, further removing the need to go to said cowboys and put their kids through (Cowboy) College...

3) Which conversely, reminds me that regardless of what some people think, without meeting another disgruntled ex-customer, who showed me that people CAN do a professional and reliable job, and are honest and helpful (Looking squarely at Mr. S. Norris here), there is NO way that I would still be running around in a Silvia, and certainly not a reliable, stupidly-powered one, so fair play there...

So, I think we've still got it better than ever guys... mainly because we all help each other out now, and have access to more skills and useful info than ever!
