Default fresh s12 owner

alrite peeps

I'm purchasing my first jap car (cannie wait!!), Its a 1989 nissan silvia s12 its a 1800 turbo automatic, and im looking for some information on these cars so i know if the 1 im getting is in worth it.
Its done 71,000 miles.
Its been resprayed in the same colour of red.
Its rust free and the underside has been undersealed.
Its had its timing belt tightend.
Its has an electric fan fitted.
Its been lowered slightly.
A reasonably new exhaust.
New bushes.
Electric fan.
Plus the usual bits and pieces Serviced regularly etc etc

And has been maintend to a excellent standard so good its been garage for 10 years and hasnt been on the to road since 2005! think of it as a 1:1 scale model lol.

Is there anything i should look out for with these cars? i dont want to end up with a shed and from what i can see its pretty minted the asking price the guys want £1500 + cost of a m.o.t.

I no alot of them are prone to rust in usual areas sills and arches. There is no rust under the spoiler as it was removed for it getting painted and replaced with an old skool supra spoiler not too big tho just enough to suit it.

I also have a few questions on this car as well, they are as follows..

1.What is the PCD on the wheels is it 114.3 X 4 ?
2. I have told by a resonably good source that the car should run on unleaded or super unleaded (super contains a higher octaine rating) the current owner has been putting in a additive (red X) into it tho coz he claims itll only run on leaded fuel and it seems to run fine with red X in system but i dont wanna put super unleaded into it incase it burns all the valve seats. What should i run the car on?

Thanks in advance guys
P.S Ill get pics up as soon as i get it

Hey look new blood!

Lol hey dude. Car sounds nice. Alot of money for an S12 but that's subjective ofcourse.
1) Yes 114.3 same as S13 200SX/Silvia
2) That's ridiculous. S12s and Bluebird Turbos should have 97 RON Unleaded. Leaded doesn't even come into it.
I used both 97, or 95 RON when I was feeling tight, and never had any issues. No pinking or anything

Cheers dude itll be run on super unleaded anyway im used to paying through the nose for it thats wat i ran my '68 beetle on and my current car bmw 323i so itll be run on the super thanks for the info.

I thought it was a tad expensive for one but i was shocked at how well this car looks for a 89. The current owners been working for a nissan parts department for fooking ages so everything that needed replaced was replaced.
Hopfully it passes it m.o.t going sometime this week fingers crossed

Look forward to absorbing all the information i can off anyone willing to lend my there input .

You might as well pour horse piss in your tank as add redex,it does absolutely nothing.I never had a problem with 95 ron.
Why didn't it have the timing belt replaced, not tightened?I't is a cheap and handy job to do on an s12 mind you.
Lift the tailgate up and check for rust around the hinges.

I bought an s12 engine once before and was told the same thing about the fuel.It would only run rite on 98 ron+.
I replaced the fuel pressure regulator with another spare one i had and it cured it.

Try holding out and getting a manual s12 rather than Auto

Well guys it passed its m.o.t the day with no work needing done.

The spoiler was a absoulte b@5tard to find apparently :S looks good tho.
Ill get some pics.

The only thing is its having idleing problems prob down to the fact hes put that additive into it! He says the fuel pumps sticking so ill take it out and clean it up or replace it (are they expensive?), Drain the tank of its shite fuel and top it up with V power. hopfully that'll fix it ...Hopfully!

As for the gearbox im only getting it in an auto coz its for sale and ive got the cash to buy it i was never out looking for a silvia was just a car a guy was selling in work. My dad knows a hes got a manual box sitting taking up space so i might get it and convert it.
Would it be worth my while doing so?

The only rust on the car is on the rear drivers arch bout the size of a brass pin head.
