Default gear box mods

whos had anything done and what was it ? i know Grippo had something done to stop them flying to bits

my last silvia`s gear box gave up @200bhp ish dont want the same to happen to this one. iv got a mk2 gearbox in the garage with 7k on it i wanna make it reliable @ 200/250 bhp

Make sure its good fresh heavyduty shockproof gear oil in it, That should give it half a chance at least.... gearbox and diff oil are always forgotten about and not changed......ever! . I have alss neglected mine , me and Dr silvia(ant) are doing ours next week.

I think Speedfreak had his gearbox hardened/strenghthened, not sure on the details though. He sold it to s12-600

my gearbox was rebuilt 4 years ago and still in 1 piece with over 300bhp , i also know which oil that is needed to keep the mk1 box in 1 piece , they use it in the states.

What oil is that shaun?

I will let you know what grade i use and how it goes wednesday evening next week after shes all done.

I had a company in bristol do mine, they rebuilt mine with stronger gears (fook knows wat that means!!! lol)

mine made 250bhp on the rollers and it was fine

they are called gloucester road gearboxes if this is any help...

its redline oil, i've lost the magazine that i wrote the grade down on, but ratdat wrote about it on sxoc, so i bet if we do a search all will be revieled.

redline mt/90 11.95 a quart, which is just shy of a litre.
