i had a mk1, what i was looking at doing was keeping the rear shaft that goes onto the diff standard and just ajusting the front shaft from the box

Best to see what its like once the box is in place.
On my Datsun the standard prop with a mk1 style front end is only about 5mm too long despite the shifter being 3" back

I could probably get it in there with brute force but this would be bad news on the gearbox oil seal. It needs to be pretty reasonable to account for subframe and engine movements.
Gonna have a go at shortening the prop myself as I have 2 spare anyway. Once I'm happy with its length then I will get a custom one made.

yea, will just have to play a game of trial and error when i have the motor built , might try and look into any other nissans that run the same sort of prop shafts and see if any are a little shorter. If not send it to the prop shaft clinic

s13 and s14 boxes are 50mm longer than mk2 s12 box and the gera lever is 65mm further back.

I can't remember if the mk1 box is shorter than the mk2 box. I think its shorter so maybe more than 50mm if thats the case.

Most of the custom props we have done are 100mm splined telescopic. This makes them extremely universal, doesnt stress gearbox and diff seals and easier to fit and remove

Does that work like the sliding assembly as seen on the old type UJ halfshafts then?
