			Hi there,

Does anyone ever tried to work with a diy megasquirt motormanagement as stand alone or piggyback? With the standard sensors? I'm interested in the results. Please let me know. CU, Frank.

You have to change basically all the sensors unfortunately

			Hi 30psi,

That's correct for the o2 sensor and the trottle body positioner. An innovate wbo2 will be used in time. A trottle positioner will be a diy adjustable resistance. But are the temperature measuring devices so bad? For the air and the motor temp? The not lineair curve can be programmed. And the maf and knock sensor seams to me (with some electronic adjustments) suitable. But you have reasons to expect the setup will not work now (make some adjustments in hard- and software) or will not work for ever? Thanks in advance, Frank.

you could use a throttle position sensor from a 200sx as its potentiometer

you would need some sort of crank sensor (toothed wheel off the bottom pulley?) does the megga squirt use coil packs? if not some modding of the dizzy would have to be done does the MS use the MAS sensor or MAP sensor? surly the MAP sensor is the way to go cant see why it wouldn't work

			Thanks for the advice boys.

I will have a look at Vems. I concidering using an EDIS-4 with toothwheel. I will have a look at the yunkjards soon. The potentiometer will be from a old audiomixer, placed in a waterproof housing. I will place a picture as it's finished. Low budget and homemade brew. It will look awfull, but I don't care.CU, Frank.

your best off looking on megasquirt forums. theres a few about. The system will work on the s12 obviously. Most of the parts you need come from some old ford edis(?) system from the early 90's. It looks pretty simple and not hard to do actualy from what ive read in the past. I say go for it. Or on the other hand Sideways Danny is working on the std ecu system at the moment. If that is a success you may as well stick with the stock system and remap that.

The EDIS is the coil pack, and is about a tenner from a scrap yard. The megasquirt like many other aftermarket and fords ecu's is a wasted spark system hence why it can use this coil pack.

You will need in addition, an air temp sensor, a throttle position sensor, map sensor, crank position sensor (hall sensor, bracket and 36-1 toothed wheel). I looked at megasquirt about 2 years ago, and I felt the info on the web was all over the place, with no concrete information, and different versions etc, and is in summary very confusing. Although megasquirt may sound appealing coz its cheap, its only as good as the person that mapped it. Unfortunately I've not heard of any experienced tuners touching megasquirt. I'm going to use a VEMS system which for the price beats the other ecu's hands down.
