Default FAO s12 brain boxes!

ok, been down at shauns today, and we fiddled with the car a bit, got some temp sensors to try, but this is what we found.... Engine idling, we disconect the afm, and nothing happened, ran as normal, rev it and it misses a bit, but ran ok. Then plug afm back in and it cut out! And also think i have a bad wire in the sensor in the throttle body. But the afm thing was weird, and it does this with both my afms lol

what fault codes have you got? Are you sure the AFM you have to replace the old one is for an 85. According to fast there are a few different part numbers

i think oscar said that his tells him bugger all, mine dos'nt either, when i did a fault diagnosis on mine all's that it did was flash red and green all the way through at the same time, i've done it on my mk1 before and it did work on that.

mine is a mk1, if i unplug the AFM, nothing happens, it idles the same, if i try and rev it in that state, it just coughs and splutters and revs a very little, when i plug it back in it tries to stall, but normally recovers (has stalled before when ive done it)

so in all it dont sound much different to mine, but mine does goive a fault code for the AFM

Obvious thing to of done would be to fit a known working afm to it, Ie borrow shauns afm off his car to do a test.

Have you worked through that list i wrote you to try 2 threads ago? save me repeating myself as im lazy tonight

well tried the red nissan temp sensor, which blew 2 fuses, and tried the blue 1, but the plug guides are diffrent so gota trim with mr stanley, then i can try it! Quick question, the 3 relays by the battery, black, green, black, fuelling? Wat does each individual one do?
