Default Steering Column Adjustment

Does the steering column on a 1988 silvia adjust up and down.

Mine seems just slightly too low for me. I have a handle which was in the glovebox when I bought the car I'm unsure how to fit it, I had a quick go but it looks like a very involved job.

I have looked in the service manual, but the diagrams don't really say a lot.

Has anyone any info on this or know a way to get the handle back in.????????????????????

Thanks Sharas,
I'm usually quite handy a figuring things out but this looks like a dashboard unscrewing event which I'm not inclined to do.

mine dont have the adjustment, but to get to where is should be you only need to take off the column couling, tis 3/4 screws under the column, and then once the bottom is off you should be able to get access to the adjustment part.

ok the first thing you'll be wanting to do is take the column trim off to inspect the column itself; its no good having a lever if the shaft itself wont move!

Haven't got the manual to hand but theres one joint in the adjustable shaft shave a feel about for it! Not yet seen a uk silvia with an adjustable column though..

You take the column trim off with a long philips drivertheres 3-4 screws on the underside.
