I have HID's on my Datsun. They're pretty easy to fit, and they're very cheap now days.
They do glare other drivers so not the best to have on a car thats not designed to take them, but oh well.

Hi Chaps,
I was just reading the posts about issues with the silvia headlamps at night. As far as HID's are concerned, I wouldn't bother. Oh yes! They are nice to have and to a degree 'fashionable' but also expensive, and as Martin said, They do glare drivers at night, I know, I'm one of them. Don't for one minute think I have something against them, I don't. What I could recommend, is a set of replacement filaments (bulbs) from ring, the filaments are H4 designs and come in at £17 or there-abouts, they offer increased light output Approx 30% which is crisper than the originals but at the same power and they fit straight in as the originals so no fannying around trying to get them to work properly. You will be able to purchase these filaments at any good auto store. Why not ask. I hope this will be of some assistance to anyone out there in silvia land that needs a quick filament replacement / upgrade that works well and is good value for money. Best regards, john |

Am I right in thinking we could then just throw any H4 bulbs in??? Would it matter if they were 100W or any different???
Would this have an effect on other electrics or would they be more prone to blowing??? PHHHHeww!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of questions there ![]() |

I used one a 100W H4 white light bulbs on my s12 and it did do any good.
Standard H4 bulbs are better. Or maybe the ones i used was a cheep crap and that was the problem. |

100W bulbs are for off road only . . . but as use them as my silvia seems to spend as much time off road (see getting fixed on the driveway) than it does on the road
![]() They were an improvement over the previous bulbs, no problems with them. With higher watt bulbs you tend to get the light pattern diffusing a bit. If you really want to see at night I recommend having 2 hella rallye 3000 FF's one with pencil beam lens and the other with a driving lens, spot on (no pun intended) ![]() |
