Ive had a noise from the back end of my auto for a while which has slowly gotten worse. It started out as a snatching noise when slowing down or going over a decent bump. I got under it today whilst on ramps but with the hand brake off and after a good pull at things, the culprit starred me in the face. The nearside caliper was loose. It turned out to be the sliders that the caliper bolts to. instead of just having in/out play it had loads of up/down play to. Over time it had worn away the inside of the slider making the caliper move around. Good job I had a spare to fit which cured the problem.
If you think you have the same problem, make sure you check the caliper with the hand brake off ![]()
