Default Play in rear wheel bearings

Hello all, I'm getting my car Mot's next week and I found a little play in the rear wheel bearings when i rocked the road wheels. Does anyone know if this is acceptable or do I need new bearings....looks like a big job . I didn't hear any bearing noise out on the road. Thanks

there shouldnt be any play really, its a quite a job doing them involving taking the arm off ,undoing a bit nut that is done up somewhere around 215 lbs ft or more, and pressing the old bearing out and pressing new one in,you need a bench and large vice if your gonna do it otherwise i would give it to a garage to do if they need doing

drop the drive shaft off the wheel end, then borrow a talk wrench and set at 289ft/lb, then see if the nut that is inside will tighten anymore.the shaft has 6 x 12,, bolts.

a very slight movement may get through. Just give it a go at a friendly Mot station. They may not need replacing, just need repacking and nipping up slightly

Thanks for that i'll try giving the nut a tweak sounds alot less hassle than dropping the suspension arms etc.

Yeah wheel bearings can live on if you repack them with grease

Well the car passed it's mot on friday after adjusting the co and headlamps so i'm legal for another year.. didnt seem too concerned about the wheel bearings so i'll repack them when i get time. Can't wait to get the engine run in so i can turn up the boost it's only runny 9 psi at moment on a T25 but still goes like a rocket .
