s12 or s13 starter motor in CA18DET ???

Went to fit the s12 starter today in the DET to find it fouls on the crank case pcv metal pipe under the inlet manifold. Its not far out and I though I could just move the circlip around but it wasnt enough. Anyone who has done the DET help me as what to do ???
