Default ca20e pistons?

hi guys i have just pulled the head off my 12 and have found that it has pistons to sleeve 16 valvles, why? do theses come out standard in them or what? and why do they allow 16v's for are they the same as 18det pistons, im currently in the prosses of having the head folwed and have sourced some bigger inlet valvles from a bmw and then gonna pull the block down and so on.and im not looking for any excuses of doing any 18det transfers.

the Et pistons do have the four valve reliefs in the top but I remember Eddy from zxoc years ago comparing them to a DET piston. The tops were the same but the grooves etc were different

there not really good enough for much to be honest, If your going to have machining done and fit new rings obviously then there really is no reason not to upgrade the pistons to at least a det 16v rod/piston setup. There so cheap to buy

what lengths are the det there obviously shorter, but will they fit the 20?. i wanna keep it a 20 no matter what as i am all for being origanal and the laws here in aus are sh#3t! though i work for an engine builder that builds sprint cars and all sorts of things so putting this together will be fun.

8V pistons have 4 reliefs in the pistons for a very simple reason. It's so they can have one single casting of piston. Otherwise they would have to cast 2 pistons to match cylinders 1&3 and 2&4.

You'll notice the cutouts on an ET and DET are completely different

oh ok no worries yeh i might see how i go mabe get some after market slappers and mabey new rods i gotta finish all the head work yet anyway, our s12's are mostly only 20s some import 18's but very few here in aus is mostly the reason im signed up with uk silvia because the 20 and 18 bits are the same so ive sourced a couple of bits through here and much rather the different insight, you wouldnt happen to no anything about a body for it or can i customize an s series kit? and i really need a new rear lip as some bastad broke it!

Have you tried the Aus S12 site ? We only ever got the CA20E in FWD form and even then only on one specific model so very rare.
