Default gearbox rumors...

afternoon all,
ive read on the tintermc'web, that the ca18det in the s13 will bolt up to the s12's original gearbox, is this true?
as my s12 project's engine is sitting on 177k, so im considering putting a freshened up DET in to her instead (does help my mate has one laying around...)
any advice you could give would be great
thanks
Monty

If they are both c trans then you shouldnt have a problem. You may have to swap bellhousings though

Hey monty
I'm just doing this myself ...well it's in the car but not wired, so yes the gearbox will bolt on fine as the bell housing is the same but I have had to get the s12 fly wheel drilled to fit the s13 engine as the s13 is an eight bolt pattern not 6 and then use the original starter and you should have a working motor but I'm yet to fire it up so check the thread in the how to section on det conversion as those guys know a lot more than me.
Cheers monti

Mine bolted straight up, the DET went straight out of an s13 into my s12 with the s13 clutch etc and s12 box. Been ok so far but haven't actually driven it lol

yes the ET & DET engines will both bolt up to the C trans in your S12, even the engine mounts bolt up (use the s12 versions).
