Default Engines coming out:(

I was well happy earlier after getting round to fitting my walbro and getting closer to buying a Gt28r, until this evening i was on my way with a mate to pick up a mini moto when i cornered at like 30 mph the front end felt shit and something was grinding i checked all under the front wheels and was expecting to see a track rod end or something broken but didnt see nout, then looked under the bonnet and saw that both engine mount bolts drivers side had sheared of again The only thing i can think of is the 20 year old mounts are not taking the hard shifting at high speeds and just cutting the heads off the bolts when its rocking back n forth.

I recently helicoiled them about a month ago after the same happened, so after speaking to shaun im gunna uprate them with the 40mm rs200 ones and get shauns template for the 4mm spacer needed, then secure them with bigger strenghted bolts.

Im gunna pull the engine out for this one to give me better access to drill out and retap with bigger than std bolts and do the same to all 4 bolts on both mounts and hopefully prevent this from ever happening again

Still il be using this for now

It took my engine a year of abuse before it wrecked one of the bolts.

For sure though on the DET block you will find that one of the bolts will bottom out as the thread is only tapped half way in. You could use a washer to get around it.

How are you fitting them on?

I guess you jack the engine up and bolt the bracket on to the block then lower it to the mount?

The only thing I could think of is that if you didn't disconnect the bracket from the mount then it may interfer with it tightening nicely against the block.

I suspect you aint doing that as it would be harder than doing it disconnected from the mount.

Maybe the bolts are simply gay?
