Default Smell of petrol coming from boot?

ive been told that the smell of petrol in my silvia is due to the boot or rear seals condition or that there is a hole somewhere. i can only smell petrol when i open the windows or the roof and its not coming from the engine bay.

has anyone had this problem?

you may have a hole in your exhaust or a loose flange on pipe bud?

yeah probs a blowing exhaust as above

Unless youve played around with your fuel pump recently, then it could be the cradle gasket

pukka - nothing has been touched since you touched it re: engine and fittings minus some twiddling with the injector plugs - they are pretty worn. i dont know what a cradle is, but the pump has been making a whining noise for a while, its gone away a little now. but its a burnt fuel smell, not a fresh petrol smell.

i was told that if the boot isnt sealed properly, when i open a window or sunroof, the fumes would be drawn through. im going to sellotape the outside and stuff some thick fabric in the boot and see if its coming from there.

the thing's so noisy, i wont be able to hear whether there's a blow!

If its Burnt fuel smell then it Must be coming from the Zorst somewhere. If it is just a fuel smell it maybe the thin rubber seal around the top of the fuel pump fitting in the top of the tank
