Default Valve stem oil seal replacement (head-on)

After having a few problems with one of my motors with excess oil consumption, I have found a how to although its for a Supra the basics are the same:

Thread rope into the cylinder and then turn it clcokwise until resistance is felt, then use a Valve tool to remove the cotters and change the seal.
This could be a cheap fix if you think your Turbo is good but still have oil burning

Well I've just done all Eight of mine in two hours. I had no thin rope so I used the cable from an Old Moby charger and it worked a treat !

looks like i may have to do this as well as the new turbo, thank fully once i got the turbo off, i could feel it has lots of play, so im confident i havnt spent that money for nothing,

but apon checking, i have found oil running down one of the valves, possibly 2, cant see inlet side, i have a set of stem seal already in a HG kits i got for the rocker cover gasket.

so i can get some rope or similar, what i need is a spring compressor, what did you use, is there a part i can buy to do this for me, like the ones you used to get for the ford pinto engine, although they used compressed air in the plug hole.

What tool did you use?

No I used a valve spring compressor that clamps onto the actual spring

Hi, guys.
I tried to do this, this afternoon and i'm in trouble now.
I used this:

I can't compress enough to remove the keepers.
I also notice that when i compressed it, the spring isn't loose enough, it compress upwards, i mean that the spring retainer don't go down like the retainer and keepers stuck.
And i also notice even i'm at TDC the valve can move like 0,5 cm down the piston.
Must i use some rope?
Thanks in advance because i need to fix my car for tuesday.

I used a air valve holder and a sealy spring compressor when i did my corvette oil seals. The air hold tool makes the job very easy
