In this instance, no, I did not plastigauge as I don't plan on this engine staying but my end bearings were totally shagged and the journals slightly scored - despite Silviagod's 2500 mile oil changes!
 However, yes, journals should be checked and plastigauged but tbh, the chances of them being worn enough to warrant a re-grind for oversize bearings if the journals look ok are pretty slim but I should have mentioned it. I forgot because I didn't bother  Have added it to how-to.
