Well done for the results! You'll be at Castle Combe on the 20th? Again it's not a million miles from me and I'd like to come and watch (assuming someone doesn't need me to help them move house or sort their car for an MOT )

Do you have any restriction on Aerodynamics in your class?

from std its got shorter AVO coilovers with adj spring platforms on the rear with uprated springs (std car has coilovers but not adj or adj platforms). its semi'trailing arm suspension which has to be retained due to the regs (cant change to dbl wishbone etc) but its rosejointed for toe adj. Rear disc conversion using wilwood calipers and pads (not needed previosly, drums were fine upto 250bhp). rera roll bar adjsuatbel with rosejoint droplinks.
front end has rosejointed lower arms and polybushed uppers. std car has springs between the wishbones but pushrod dampers, so ive stregthened upper wishbones and fitted coilver springs and dumped the springs between the wishbones. front dampers are trick AVO dbl adjusted with custom valving.
car runs approx 2.5 deg camber and zero toe. thicker anti roll bar with rosejoint drop links.
front brakes are large-ish grooved AP race discs with AP 4 pot mega light ally calipers and choice of Mintex or Pagid carbon metallic pads.
most of our guys that run in teh lower Modified class run stiffer springs front and rear and AVO or spax dampers and the cars are really good on road tyres. mines had to have more done because its not a compromise (super mod class), doesnt get run on the road.

Cheers craig, thats cool that it has double wishbone up front as standard. Do the rose joints make it much noisier/harsher?

Why have you opted for zero toe?

yeah i shall be there, just hope its dry coz the cars crap in the wet! at Combe i hit over 140mph and with semi-slicks and standing water you can hear my bottle rattling over the exhaust note! if you pop along come over and say hello.
yeah the aero is governed by the MSAs Modified Production regs, so not a lot of leeway. basically you cant do anything more above the centreline of the wheel nuts , but im working on a few bits for next season already

That's fair comment, the start and finish "straight" is bad enough in the dry let alone when you've got puddles to contend with. At least the field should have been harvested by machines other than cherished racing cars by now so if the worse happens then at least you could find your way out!

I'll defo come and find you on the day as it'd be nice to put a face to the name and finally see your car in the flesh!

Silly MSA, they are always spoiling peoples fun! Looking forward to seeing the car develop over the winter already

car nor face are pretty mate both are showing a few miles and battle scars lol

Mod Prod is reasonably restrictive re aero, but Sports Libre is much more liberal but then you have to fight with single seaters and GT cars (V8 darrian etc etc) better to stick where i am i reckon lol

tyres are shagged (only last a season) so just dont want standing water, or else its hello gravel trap...

yeah dbl wishbone setup at the front, actually vauxhall chevette. Good ol scimitar factory parts bin car design lol.
rose joints do make it harsher, i dont think id ever use them on a road car suspension. wear rate and dirt ingress gets to bad for a road car. I like polybushes for road cars, firmer without removing your fillings and still hugely better location the rubber bushes-Yuk!
Scims have zero toe as std, but to be honest ive tried toe in and toe out. toe out gives better turn-in but makes inner tyre shoulders overheat as they are really running too much negative camber when you add the dynamic camber in (camber change thru suspension compression). it also makes the car wander a little at high speed too, but not a major issue.
car runs better .5 and 1 deg of rear toe in too to make the car stable.
