Well I'd be surprised a banger racer would bother stealing a fuel injected bluebird because they'd have to change it to a carb'd engine. They'd be better just nicking a 1.6 bluebird. Either way whoever did it is a bastard.

The estate where my sister used to live, had a thriving industry in second hand car parts. They used to pinch allsorts from Ladas to Minibuses. If the scum think they can make a few quid from stolen parts, that`s all they seem to care about .
Hopefully the law will catch up with tw**s that took your car. Regards, Ian.

You could be able to recover your costs from your insurance.

Not worth putting it through the insurer as it would trigger a claim and you could effect NCB or future insurance quotes.
Have you told the insurer it was nicked? You need to be careful how you inform them it was recovered. They will put the info on a database known as MIAFTR (HPI and other car check firms use it). Firstly it would go on the database as stolen. Some insurers delay putting thefts on because its quite surprising how many stolen cars are found soon after the reported theft. Some people forget where they parked at Bluewater and assume their car was nicked lol. If you tell them it was found by police they will put 'recovered' on MIAFTR, but if you tell them you forgot where you parked it and you found it the next day chances are they won't submit any record to the database. Reason I'm going on about this is for the sake of any future checks on your car, it would be good to avoid having stolen/recovered coming up for when you sell it.

I doubt I could say I forgot where I parked it, as the neighbour that witnessed the theft has already given a statement to the police.
I already told the insurance that it has been recovered, and that I will be unlikely to be making a claim. I'm not really that bothered about the stolen/recovered database, as I am unlikely to be selling the car anytime soon. |
