Default My beastie...

Waheyyyy! - My first post here!

Sorry guys - New to this - I've attached this as a file, but hopefully it's worked okay (no webspace at the mo')...

My mate took it a few years ago, at Billing (I didn't have my nice new indicators then!)

Den.

If not, I'll try to get it hosted somewhere, and link to it/them...

Looks nice Den. Has it changed much other than that. Hows the engine running these days?

Cheers guys...

That there man is indeed your good self matey....

Cheers Pukka - She don't look quite so good at the mo' - Needs a lick of paint!

Engine's running sweet, but the roller-bearing turbo's not so powerful as the old one

...Still, it spools up f*cking quick, so it's swings and roundabouts! - Far more driveable now, so it'll do... for now...

All the best guys - Should be a fun event!

520bhp from the 1.8....

last time i saw a power run from that car was a few year ago & managed 300bhp at the wheels + plenty of smoke. talking to a guy last year, he had spent £35.000 + on getting 560bhp from the det block which he claimed to be the max from this engine, unreliably of coarse. you must have spent big dollar & have big pockets geez

den only spent around 14k to get that power i think, 35k is ridiculous, he must of been ripped of some where along the line.

Heh heh... Yep - 307bhp if I remember rightly. and that was also on Thor's dyno (although neither I nor Shaun can recall any smoke? ). I then expected a *little* more once the work (and that dirty great big Greddy tubbie) went on, but I have to admit, 442bhp at the wheels was a very nice result!

At JAE, she'd made 419bhp at the wheels (about 490bhp / fly, by all accounts), but Thor squeezed a little more out of her...

Drove beautifully too, apart from the obvious .... nothing... nothing... nothing..... BAAAANG! - There u go! - nice, apart from people complaining about having to retrieve their boll*x from the back seat.

I much prefer the (admittedly slightly weedier) roller bearing turbo though - more driveable, and you never know - Simon may tweak it to give more welly at a later date...

...and Shaun's dead right - engine and tubbie haven't cost more than 14k, which although it's a sh*tload of wonga, has bought me one of the most heavily modded (and reliable (so far!) ) S13 /DET engine and turbo combinations - I'm pretty sure most people chasing these type of power figures have either spent in excess of that, or have reliability problems as a result of not doing so! (note - Before I get flamed - I say MOST, not all)

As regards mr. 35k - Would that be Rich? - He was running 550-560 on standard fuel, and 615 on 118 octane - If I whacked 118 octane in the tank and advanced the ignition, I'd make close to 600 bhp (safely *apparently*), but then again, I hear Rich's S13 is alas no more, which until I know the cause, I'm wary of doing the same...

to be honest, i think the smoke rob is on about is the richness of the fuel mixture on full load, mine is the same on full throttle, mine belches black through gear changes, not so much now as i've had it trimmed up for my run to france, but having a little extra as you let the throttle off helps with piston cooling on high speed runs. by the way den, i did like that feel of the big tubby, it made me grin like fuck i was still smiling 2 hours later, i'll have to take you a spin den, see what you think of the old 8 valve.
