Default Massive one owed matey!

Thanks to you, I got my flywheel lightened and balanced - not massively lighter, but importantly, not lightenned TOO much! - now 9.2kg, was 11.8kg...

gearbox, clutch etc all in courtesy of my mate Russell - Bit like you Shaun, will help anyone, and always good to his word with the offer - I am indeed blessed, lol!

Seriously mate - should be firing her up on Saturday, after clleaning any crap out from the cylinders, etc... so fingers crossed!

Should soon be barrelling my way towards sunny Chesterfield for a cuppa! Wahey!...

Then to Wigan! (or vice-versa)...

All the best guys - f*cking GREAT to be sorting my poorly girl out - Can't wait to catch up with all you nuttahs again!...

Excellent! - Be good to have us all back on the road and ready to terrorise the local Scooby's and Evo's, etc...

Chesman did it mate - £85 for lightening, balancing & skim (though was money wasted, as it had already been skimmed), but REALLY helpful guys - Andrew in particular - met me outside Coventry at 9:30pm, annd did it as a rush job so we could fit it last weekend...

SERIOUSLY impressed with the service and friendliness mate... good bloke...

Should be getting her started this weekend!

PS - Nissan are complete tw*ts...

Needed 2 x 65mm long bolts to secure the top of the bell housing to the engine, and I have had a NIGHTMARE getting them - sent Lorna to my local Nissan parts centre (who've been fantastic over the years)...

...different guy working there, and a complete condescending c*nt - Lorna mentioned what I needed, and for what, and he did everything he could to avoid having to actually WORK and sell the parts, probablly as it was only 2-3 bolts (though they turned out to be £7.25!! - Nice, customer loyal Nissan eh?!....

(PS - not womens' fault, but I am NEVER sending a woman to get car parts for me again, as I'll end up decking the c*nt next time....

a$$hole....

i.e.

Lorna: (as I'd told her):- I need 2 x 65mm long bolts for the topmost mounting holes, to attach a 200sx bell housing to the engine. CA18DET I've been told...

tw*t: What's the chassis number - I need the chassis number.

L: I don't have the chassis number - it's just a CA18DET engine from an S13?

T: Well, I can't find what you're looking for then.

L: Well, the last guy just brought up the details on the computer, and found the part number from that!

T: errr... well, we don't store the information on computers any more - it's all on film now, and the S13 is an old car, and won't be on the system, so without the chassis number, I can't help you.

L: What? - you mean to say you've gone from FILM to computers, and back?! - don't take me for an idiot - it's only an S13 engine, is it so hard to find on your computer?

T: well, how do you know you need '65mm long' bolts?

L: err.... because that's what it says, and that's what came out of it.

T: oh yeah? - so why do you need them, if you took some out?!?!

L: because they bloody broke! - What is this?! - The 3rd degree? - my husband just needs them to get his car working again!?!

T: alright - what reg is it?

L: 'E'.

T: 'E'?!?!! - 'EEEEEEE'? - [clucks and stammers]

L: Well, they only made 'em up to 'F'!

T: They didn't make the 200SX on an 'E'.

L: It's a SILVIA.

T: [smugly] ...errr... I think you'll find it's a 200SX.

L: It's a SILVIA. He just happens to have an S13 engine in it.

T: Oh! - well, if it's modified, then I can't sell you the parts.

L: Why not? - What POSSIBLE difference does that make?!

T: [swiftly changing his tactics] - well, err... it's an older car, and we aren't likely to have the parts.

L: It's the SAME engine and gearbox we were just bloody talking about?!

Tw*tface then proceeded to argue the toss foor a few more minutes, until Lorna, fuming, had to go and pick Kim up from school.

Incidentally, she wanted to talk to the manager, and threatened to take it higher, and the next day, he was SOOOOOO helpful...

Needless to say, I NOW have 3 shiny new bolts just in case.

Good old Nissan eh?.... lol!

most of the dealerships are total w**kers arent they? wanted to know the VIN number for my car. Explained that its not in a nissan, guys said 'oh, its been bodged into summat else than has it?' i mentioned that Nissan had supplied reliant with complete powertrains for 6 years, but then being a well trained and knowledgable Nissan dealership employee he would know that

i eventually got rid of him and found someone else there with a clue, but doesnt bode well does it.

The helpful 2nd guy mentioned that a lot of their older spares come from Nissan europe based in Holland, maybe we should find a dealership in Holland that would take our money? probably be quicker and cheaper even with the postage?
any Dutch S12 guys on here?

Definitely mate - Now, if it had been a prop-shaft I wanted (at £900-odd), I bet he'd have fair JUMPED to get the sale, and I don't even think they're on commission....

...and like you say, if he knew his stuff, he'd have understood that yours is MEANT to have a CA18ET in it, and he shouldn't be condescending without even knowing his stuff... tw*ts...

yep, and at £2.40 a bolt, and not even sure they're the right ones (diagram (which strangely enough, DID exist on the computer - he printed it out) showed one part no., and he supplied another... checked invoice.... hopefully they're alternatives...

PS - DAMN good tip - Halfords / fletchers etc FORTY EIGHT pound's for 5 litres of the good stuff - Castrol / Magnatec / etc... COSTCO are now doing the SAME motor oil, 4 litres for TWENTY-TWO pounds.... halved my costs in that area at least, as I need a couple - £100, or £44? - hmmm... hard choice! lol! PS - They also do a 20 litre drum of decent semi-synth (good for most cars, and even just for flushes etc too), for about £50. nice one Costco!...

Default At last!

What a result!

Spent the weekend with my mate Russ, getting the car sorted out, and finally got her all together and started up!

Thanks to all for the great advice, and I have to say, things are looking good initially! - Have to run her in for a slooooooow 300 miles... sigh... BUT, hopefully by Sunday, she'll be at her best! - MOT on Thursday, hopefully taxed on Friday!

Sounds great still, apart from an earlier intermittent missing problem ( after 18 months, she fired up first time! - no missing etc! ...until I took her for a little test drive to ensure that the turbo was working fine (was looking for ANY boost, and all was good...)... Could be due to the old battery being a bit tired/old, but checked the voltage when running - 13.5 - 14.07v, so seems okay, Russ cleaned the plugs, tested compression, etc... ...and eventually she just started running happily on all four... result!

New clutch from Competition Clutch feels good so far (Of course, I won't be able to vouch for the power transmitting capabilities until I've done my bedding in miles..)...

Will keep you guys informed, and see you all soon methinks...
