what to do....
i am stuck on this one... was supposed to be getting a rx7 this weekend but the guy has pped me around again for the 2nd month...
so i have the s12 half sprayed sat in the drive.... most of a 200sx s13 (engine, loom, box ect)... and am drving a pug 406.... diesel the s12 needs welding... drivers wing... rear seats and belts... and the engine sorting as it will idle but not rev (well it will rev but dies after u rev it when u try to get it to idle)... i am trying to decide what to do should i: Look for another 200sx s14 and keep the s12 to do up over time? Throw more money at the s12 and get it done quick as poss? Throw more money as the s12 and fit the engine out of the s13 in it (not sure how to do this or what is needed) and get it done asap? |

There is a guide for the ca18det on here have a search and read, see if you think its easy enough, i have done it but i went the tidy way and did the whole relay box for the det, and sorted the rev counter so it works. i would stick with the 12 and go for that option as you have the det laying around and get it running and road worthy and just sort the little things over time when you driving it about

I would go with the det in s12 .
I envy you doski. I made my swap not so tidy (basicly just to make it work), took me ages, and then decide to do all the suspensio and brakes and all the little things also, so its been 2 years and my car is still in the garage

They bolt on if you use S13 lower arms and hubs. Might also want to swap Steering rack so that you can use S13 Track Rod ends as the S12 ones are a pig to get hold of and don't offer as good adjustment with S13 hubs.

You don't have to use the S13 arms and with the steering you need both the track rods and ends off an S13 and then they need shortening.

well i have started this... got cuts all over my hands and arms my back is killing and 4 showers after i last touched it i am still covered in oil so it must be going well
bit confused on what wires go were tho... especially about the 3 green relays anyone got a step by step of the wireing? and some one has hid the ecu on the s12... just started getting some more money in as well so getting tempted to take the engine to stage 2 but a bit dubious of wether the gearbox would end up in the boot or not... |

starting to lose heart with this again...
Engine still isnt in... Jacked up the back end the other day took a wheel off and the springs arnt attached to the car or the subframe in any way... (was their some sort of clamp on them as standerd?).... the brake pads and discs are non existant (no biggy just a PITA)... found the ecu (who would have thought it was were it was supposed to be)... found the cabling for it... found its been re-sprayed when it was stripped... so red wires arnt red anymore ect ect... and to cap it all my new jack will only go under the back end if i put 40psi in the tyres because its about 6mm too high... over a year and i still havent drove it... |

Hiya mate, stick at it, it will be worth it in the end .
The rear springs are not attached to the car, they just sit in rubber seats. That`s why people that have lowered springs can have the problem of the rear springs falling out when the car is jacked up . I had the same problem jacking my car up (when it was lowered), a trolley jack wouldn`t go underneath. Either get a mate to lift the back of the car up a little so you can get the jack under, use the standard scissor jack to raise the back up a bit first, or invest in a good quality low entry trolley jack (whch is what I had to do). I know it`s a pain, but keep going . Regards, Ian.
