Firstly where was you fixing the car to not have any water within 200 yds the moon?
I could have run 200yds to a garage in 2 minutes to get water, Its no wonder its blown if this is the case, and you should have had the head skimmed especially if you run your car with no water as this will definately cause it to warp, it must have been screeming with heat Thats all i can say really as there isnt a specific answer for stupidity

no when we were changing it, lost water as it will do. put it back together and drove it slowly to the garage 200yds away. think thats what damaged it. why would the head need skimming before, i only swapped heads onto different block. both surfaces were cleaned up

I dont understand from your posts if you changed the thermostat or head gasket and youve mentioned swapping heads

Well he holed a piston a while back i think so i imagine he took the head off and put it on a different bottom end.
Have you done a compression test? I predict it will blown again as Every ca18et ive known that hasnt had the head skimmed on hg replacement has blown the hg again with a few thousand miles at the most.

ally heads can warp just by taking them off incorrectly. its always advisable to surface a ally head before refitting

i thought that u only had to skim the head if the gasket blows, not if changing it. i have a spare head i can use and swap manifolds
