New boy here
Hi there everyone im Dave and I have just picked up a 1986 D-reg S12 auto in white.
I have noticed there is a link in the ebay section to the auction my car was on along with my flat mate gav's new toy a 1985 B-reg manual in silver with very nice custom leather (Gav has also signed up here as tractor-boy). Bought the 2 of them for a very good price and are hoping to have them both on the road in the next few weeks. I shall be posting some pics up in the project section over the next day or 2 as I get started on mine but until then here is the link to have a look at them both. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/nissan-silvia-...QQcmdZViewItem P.S. One quick question, what sort of power could the auto box handle? I am looking at going all out performance wise but without a manual conversion. Cheers guys |

Hiya Dave,
Welcome to the club . My car when it was running had an auto box, I was told at the time by Silvia Engineering, that the auto could handle over 200 bhp at the wheels. It won`t , plus Silvia Engineering are no longer running now . TBH, I wouldn`t go much more than 170 bhp, with the auto. I spent a huge amount of money on mine and got the power up to over 230 bhp, even had the gearbox reconditioned, just to be on the safe side. It was fine from a standing start, 0-60 in around 6 seconds. But if you used the kick-down, the engine would red-line, before the gearbox had chance to catch up. I ended up blowing gearbox oil seals etc. My advice would be to go for the manual conversion, if you want serious power, the auto box just can`t handle it . Regards, Ian.

Ah never mind then I guess ill just do a couple of tweaks to push the power up a little and leave it at that till I get myself sorted.
To be honest the s12 was bought as a run around while I get my rx7 rebuilt, I have not even driven the silvia yet and im already thinking that I may keep it well past that stage |
