I would definately be interested in taking part in something like that, probably albe it even a small part as a tea person if anything, as i cant actually afford to do anything financially for a while - but im good for spirit/morale/tea/drinking

If your car is your pride and joy and you dont have the money to buy another car the same straight out then dont do it. you will get some tosser turn in on you at somepoint guarenteed. I saw a 80s roadsports amature meet at brands. it was complete carnage at the top of paddock hill bend, xr2's writing cosys off and everything. but hey 'thats motorsport',or so i have heard lol

not if you stay ahead of the pack But I know exactly what you mean, so if i was to do this, i'd buy a cheap ratty s12 and run it in the production class which allows basic mods to suspension, exhaust and induction, which should help keep costs down when 'racing incidents' happen.

Stick to time trials I say. You're the only one who will be damaging your car then.

Having seen some of the crash vids from amateur track days, most of the damage is self inflicted, but imagine how pissed you be if someone ran into the back of you.

If anyone is interested I've got a Honda CRX for sale that will suit the production class down to the ground.

Spec
Honda CRX 1.6 16v non-Vtec
17" wheels with new tyres on front and alright stuff on the back
New Disks and pads
New TrackRod ends
2 1/4 inch straight through SRS single box from downpipe back (includes a decat but the 16v doesn't use a CAT as standard)
Lowered 35mm (I think) on uprated springs
Stripped out retaining dash
It does have a sun roof so that'll need removing and covering
New Main Relay
Two Spare short engines (one good and one that looks like it's seen better days)
Spare head including cams and followers and pulleys (non adjustable)
Spare gearbox that needs new bearings methinks
New Clutch
Full top end gasket set
Quick shift leaver and a spare standard one

The shell isn't the tidiest ever but it would look OK from 30 feet and the car should be pretty competitive in the Standard class as it's well under the 1000kg's.

It'll need all of the FIA spec safety gear installing and a little bit of attention here and there but other than that it's a good base car.

Offers in the region of £900

PM me if you're interested

Like Jon said, if the car is your pride and joy then don't even consider racing it at all!

Time trials are wicked fun but IMO circuit racing beats it hands down for excitement. On the other hand Sprints and hillclimbs are MUCH better value for money.
