Savage Friday Night
Friday night was a bad night for me and claire. After work my alternator decided to pack up,claire was in the area so came and met me near pease potage in Crawley. Dr silvia called me and said he would then come out and give a hand and bring a spare alternator to fit at the roadside.
So while we were waiting for him to arrive we thought we would go to the service station in her civic and get some food from Burger king... Then on the way out the services we saw Adzs12 in his silvia go past towards Haywards Heath. (car looked stunning) So we thought sweet lets chase him and flag him down for a chat..... we got up to around 70mph and we could see him in front but was about 250mtrs away. Then SUDDENLY BANG!!!!!!!!. Claires bonnet catch let go flew up and smashed her windscreen to pieces and bent the bonnet like a crisp packet.... She slowed down surpirisingly well and controlled and i pulled the bonnet down off the windscreen. Adz had not known we were there behind him so this is probs the first he will hear about it...... Then Dr silvia(ant) turned up and we fitted the alternator and tied her bonnet down with wire and crawled back to mine. Weve found another bonnet at the breakers yard in blue and fitted it,it needs spraying yet but the bodyshops booked up for the next 4 weeks so we will have it done then, the windscreen guy is fitting the screen on Monday.... Grim evening, Thanks Ant for your help that night by the way.....

Yeah it was a very grim evening. Glad Jons got his car sorted though.
The catch was dodgy and was only closing half way as it had road grit and slat all in it, Heres some pictures of the damage,The new bonnet is getting a respray and a bit of work on it just after xmas and im going to get my wing mirrors and door handles colour coded at the same time. |

I cant beleive what ive read here
I saw what i thought was you pull out the services and saw that you started following me so as i got up near the breakers i started slowing down so you could catch up but you never did and i lost sight of you Thats when i thought that couldnt have been you and carried on with my evening. I had this exact accident when i had my rs turbo and that flipped open at 85mph and i span 3 times and landed in between 2 lamp posts, so well done claire for hanging on, its a bumpy ride with that wind against a bonnet thats folded round your windscreen. By what i can see from the pictures it hasnt damaged the top part of your roof has it??

Yeah it couldve been a lot worse, could have wrote off my car and now be looking for a silvia as a replacement.
The windscreen is getting fixed now the rest should be done after xmas. Thinking of getting some bad boy extensions on my bonnet but not sure yet. The roof has a couple of small dents but my 'halfords' metal washer jets saved the roof from caving in. This is the first time you will hear me say this but 'thankgod for Halfords'. |
