Default Calipers

I'm in urgent need of a left rear caliper for my s12.

MOT ran out yesterday but it's still at the garage, everything else is fixed and fine but the caliper came back to haunt me today. Got a call, needs replacing, but they have it on thier records but it's out of stock as to is Brakes International website.

Would a 2nd hand one suffice, i.e from someone who's breaked an s12 previously?

Anyway if anyone can lend us a hand I'd gladly accept, the money i've spent on tyres and the MOT is down the drain as I'll be forced to sell or scrap it before the 28th if I can't get the caliper fixed

bugger

alright abit of good news, garage can order the part just it might take awhile to get here.

Guess it'll mean I'll have to see if I can bargain with one of my mates to keep the car off the road at his old mans farm if I do need to SORN it.

whats the reason for it to be replaced???

mine binds sometimes, and wont release the the handbrake, i little squirt of WD40 in the bit where the cable goes onto, and its all fine for a while, normally bout a year.

well the caliper should be at the garage come monday afternoon. So if all goes to plan it'll be MOT'd and road legal by 23/24th of feb.

it's gonna cost a bit but thats what comes with owning a 20 year old car, least I can rely on my local garage to get the parts fast unlike garages i've tried previously. So it's off with the 17's on the rear and back on with the 15's, nice deep new tread to.

see if anyone wants spare parts for an s12 try 24/7 spares website, I tried the other day for a caliper and within an hour I got a response, £35 posted....however i'd rather a newer one. Says they had 27 s12's through independant breakers being broken at that time, thats how I got another turbo and manifold ( complete ) £130 but good having around incase the inevitable.

anyway I'll let you know if she passes come next week, bloody hope so
