Progress on Wacomuk's Turbo manifold
I'm done about 70% of the pipe work. I should be done tacking it together tomorrow. here is what I have done so far. It's a bottom mount with the turbo sitting close to the same spot as with the stock manifold. It should be able to fit any T28 no matter how big the compressor is.

Looking good;) How long does one like this take from start to finish?

looking good ! iv relpyed to your pm

Seems like you really have got the hang of making them now. |
|
Woah thats top stuff. Is that Turbo definatly going to clear the inner wing?.
Im guessing there will be additional bracing from the tubby flange to the engine somewhere...Very impressed  |
It does look a bit large, can't it be made smaller?
Surely that turbo will be close to the inner wing. It might be hard to put a pipe on it being so close, unless the compressor is rotated down or something. How much will this end up costing wacomuk? |
It will fit with a 2" gap between the manifold and side wing. This is the smallest I can make it with the bends I have. It will cost him £223.51 shipped.
|
Thats pretty cheap...
Will the turbo need rotating then? Will you be fitting a brace? With the 2" clearance will this be an issue with the engine moving on its mounts? My downpipe sometimes hits the firewall, but the engine moves anticlockwise due to the torque reaction ie moves the turbo away from the wing, but it might come back the other way under hard engine braking. |
Your engine shouldn't move more than 2" or maybe it's time for new motor mounts. I don't think it needs to be braced because I'm using Sch 40 pipe that's more than 5mm thick for the side walls. the turbo will need to be rotated about 15 degrees.

Top work then fella:nod

Here are the completed pictures. It's been sent a couple weeks ago Dave. In the pictures it's not bolted to head it just sitting on the studs.

looks A1 Dan thanks! has it been sent on the 6week post?
|
Look forward to seeing that in the engine bay. What Turbo is going on it?

Big thanks again Dan for finishing the mani. I know you have had a very hard time of late.
Dans right its going to have a recon T28 from a GTIR bolted to it http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...k/fb58899f.jpg. im not going to run big boost because i need it to be reliable so between 12/15psi. i also have a WEBBER ECU and custom loom made by Wayne from chipwizzards (similar to Ken Fins ECU) ill be hoping for around 220bhp mark |
you should easily clear 220bhp if thats a flywheel figure?
How long until it will be fitted? 15/16psi sounds good for a t28-et |
normally it wouldn't have taken this long but recent events have taken up a lot of my time. Dave is a very patient and understanding person. I thank you very much for that.
|
220 @ fly will do me
I also have a piper cam and vernia pulley so if I put it all together and can get 220bhp @ the fly wheel @ 12/13 psi ill be very happy the car I took all the bits from got 236bhp at the fly (1bar) with out the manifold and it had 145k on the clock mine has just covered 30k Wayne from chipwizzards said it would have been more bhps if he could have got more fuel pressure or bigger injectors (it was using fj20 injectors) Dan no worries at all. when its on ill be telling everyone its a 1 off custom magnum-manifold imported from Canada |
Any pictures of this fitted yet? or more to the point did it fit?
|
far to cold yet to be fitting manifolds
|
Have you managed to fit this yet matey? :)
|
not yet not had time to iv been doing the girlfriends house up so she can sell it and move in with me
