Standard Boost

What's the standard boost for a S12 with the standard T2?

adzs12 26-04-2006 17:51

6-7 psi mate:ghey

Ronin 27-04-2006 08:14

Thanks so 96bhp ( 129bhp flywheel ) is not bad for a 80000 mile engine on standard boost.
So what would the safest psi to take it to without any risk of damaging the engine with and without I/C and what grade plugs?

s13eater 27-04-2006 08:31

about 10psi and bcpr-7es plugs.

i bet if you set up you tappets / timing and plug gaps spot on the car will be back to 135bhp. on standard boost you can up the timing from 15dbtc to 17.5dbtc to get a few more bhp`s

Cheers for the info, give me something to think about but before I start tinkering I've got to solve the missfire on no.1 on tick over before playing with anything else.

test your plug leads with a multi meter. from memory if it reads more that 18 ohm its naffed

Ronin 27-04-2006 21:28

Thanks but I don't think it's the leads as I replaced them a couple of months ago along with the coil.

I used those orange hotwire leads on my 8v engine and they deteriorated and were nackered in under 2 months. So i bought some Magnacore leads and i did notice the difference in engine performance.

As Shaun says and set the plug gaps to .9

Thats a very healthy bhp figure you have there considering. Exhaust and air filter modifications will help just as much as a boost increase :)

i had a set of orange hot wires too once, and everytime it rained without fail it would only run on 2 or 3 cylinders once spent a whole week on half the engine firing, sounded like an old derv......

i got some genuine nissan leads, that was 6 years ago, and they have never misfired yet. worth paying the extra money
