Hi guys, i was just wondering if a metal head gasket for a 200sx with the CA18DET would fit a silvia (s12) with the CA18ET engine, as far as i know the blocks are the same just the heads are different but wanted to check to be sure before i fork out for a metal gasket.....
Cheers Ben

Yes I think someone on hear uses one. You may have to open up one of the water galleries to match the one you take off tho

turbomike had one for his ca18et,cnhss1 uses one as well i think, i think theres just a little mod you have to do, nothing big, i used std gasket as SE nissan had mig wired the block, this held together @ 32psi on the t34

when you say mig wired the block...? Im thinking of running quite a bit of boost, what is a realistic safe limit on standard internals/head gasket? cheapest metal gasket i have found is £100 so wanna get as much info as i can before spending too much!

On ebay there is a cometic head gasket for ca18et. I use one and no fabrications are needed.

see pic of modified DET cometic to fit ET. this is actually the one Cweeks bought from TurboMike. it shows the extra two water way holes that need to be cut
my engine uses MIG wire block and std nissan HG too, i have lower comp forged pistons rather than thicker head gasket

currently running a 25g, and emanage blue, but i have that mappable ecu i brought from you, and thinking of running a td05 off a scooby, as a mate is making a fourbranch for me and he has a uprated rollerbearing turbo lying around...
still dont really understand what you guys mean by mig wired block. so what is the general conscensous then, see a lot of pros for MHGs, but if a standard one will cope with big BOOOOOOOOOOOST is it worth spending the extra when i already have a standard one with my head set...?Or just down to presonal preference?

pics of my current block with MIG wired groove around top of each bore. it essentially sits half in the block groove and then sticks half proud of the block deck surface. when a std headgasket is fitted to std torque settings, it basically doubles the clamping force around the fire rings in the HG without overtightening anywhere else on the head and block.
