Default tyre let go

my tyre decided to let go on the a34 on sunday, this being the main issue -

was lucky it was the inside of the rear tyre, and an empty road, i felt a very minor shaking of the steering wheel, which went away, until 5 minutes later there was a violent shaking of the wheel (all at 70mph) before pulling over to the side of the road
Good o' Nankangs!

only time my tyres did that, was on my mk1 and that was on the rears when it had been lowered, i found that even with the camber conversion that it would still feck the side walls up, i found that changing fron 40's to 45's sorted the problem,i think they look better, 40's don't fill the arch enough on 17's. youcan get 225/45/17's on the front ,but i hsd to grind a little window in the spring cup so that it din't rub.
