air filters

I know that air filters have been covered numerous times in this forum but Ive been having a problem trying to fit one. I understand that ill need a s13 mounting bracket. I have no idea what it looks like tho lol so my work had a nissan sunny gti to which i "obtained" a piece of the airbox and tried to mock somthing up to work. Heres wat i came up with.

2 pieces i separated.


Then glued them togeather.


Sealed them with sillycnut so they theres no gaps.


Heres what im left with.


heres it bolted in place using instant gasket.


I've used a air filter i borrowed from a friend. But as soon as it started the car up it rund like a bag of shite over fueling and cuts out . Am i doing something wrong?
