Question What's this wire

Basically as the title says what is this wire in my grubby mitt where does it go or is it spare?

Any help would be appreciated.

it looks a bit to big for the temp gauge, unless its the photo, temp gauge is the a small spade connector on mine, well it was on the blue mk1, but that din't have a cover over it, i'll look at mine in the morning.

I have been looking for a spade connector to plug into it as it is of that size.
