'try using decent brake pads, discs and brake fluid before you label s12 brakes as crap and go larger'.Try mintex pads or something and a complete system bleed. Halfords/ferodo/apex/motor factor pads just arnt upto the job. Ive found the s12 brakes to be twice as good as the s14 brake conversion when the s12 brakes have decent brand pads and the s14 ones did not

The S14 conversion isn't worth it really unless you use thicker discs. The braking effort will be pretty much unchanged. I bet that Wilwood conversion up there feels magical. When I've worn out the Z32 discs I will go to 310x32mm discs from Apex Performance.
S12's discs are only 22mm thick. Coupled with calipers what dont do a good job of asborbing heat unlike the larger S14 caliper, they are more likely to fade. This is where the real issue lies. The braking force on std discs is reasonably ok, its just there ability to withstand continuous use which is a big issue. Even with the Portfield pads and new discs, I questioned their resistance to fading after a hard lap of the romford ring road.
