i found that the wire from the loom leading to the flying lead was broken, what would this effect?

my gal has been mis-firing badly and wont idle very well, could this have something to do with it?

The det sensor is a grey multiplug that isnt used on the ca18et, i thought you was refering to a plug like the injectors use?

ok, i got 4 injector plugs ( 2 pin ), i got a sensor on the side of the throttle body, another sensor mounted on the inlet manifold ( i think, also a 2 pin ) there is a 3 pin plug between piston 2 and 3 that is not used, there is a grey multiplug which is used, there is 4 grounding pionts for the injectors, and then this lonely connector that is roughly in the same position as the 3 pin that is between piston 2 and 3.

this wire was connected but had frayed, and i followed the wire to which it is connected and it lead me to just above the starter solenoid and just below the inlet manifold.

there is an unused plug there, cant remember if its for the Auto or air con

nothing will happen if the det sensor is disconnected as long as it doesn't earth out, if it does it will retard the timing by 5 deg

i have already chopped the clip off, as it had frayed , but i have reconnecteed these 2 wires together as they were,
as for posting a picture, i have not got the authority at work to place pictures on here, bit of a pain.
i have decided that to get the car running proper, i would need alot of money,
which i dont have, and a growing nipper to bleed me dry.

i am listing the car on ebay in a weeks time, but if anyone is interested in a 'spares or repair ' jobby then please let me know before this.
