the sr20's usually seem to sit right at the bulkhead(looking at a mates 180sx) so i dont think beating the bulkhead would be much of a option?

i thought that they sat pretty close to the firewall , i suppose i could always cut it out and weld some sort of boxy type thing to gain some clearance(like they do on old mini's when fitting webbers, as far as the gearbox go's the only difference that i know between pulsar sr20's and s14 ones is the block construction in that the pulsar block is all alloy , i can't see why they would cast a different block for just one engine type surely it would'nt be cost effective, but then again i could be wrong

The SR20 will only fit in a car with the original drive configuration that it came out of due to engine mounts and gearbox. A GTI R eninge will not go in a Primera even though they are both transverse mounted because of the 4 wheel drive transfer box and gearbox, and the engine mounts are different on both from the rear wheel drive SR20.

Sorry but I have to dissagree, a GTIR engine will (and has on many occasions) go into a Primera quite easily. You just have to bin the box and use the Primeras original.

But you will have a job putting a RWD box onto an transverse engine, incompatible.

Why not try and get an S14 engine instead? easy to get hold of.
