I think that's a bit of an old wives tale tbh, both Shauns old Blue cars box and the one in Jon's old MKI have had shnizzle kicked out of them buy 300+ BHP engines and they are still going strong. Every time I've seen people requesting a replacement box they are always MKII owners, including the one replaced in the Jackie/reaper MKII project car. Does anyone actually know of a MKI box that let go on someone?

S13 box is probably easier to get hold of, but it requires modification of the transmission tunnel and probably a some fiddling with the prop. If you're desperate then get what ever comes your way then have your spare rebuilt for peace of mind, drop the DET in and enjoy!!

I've done similar to a mk2 box aswell, all gearboxes die by my hands (or should I say feet)

What ever you have if you abuse it it will die.

I've done more boxes than I care to remember remember!

I started off night rallying in an MG metro with a 4.1 diff, I destroy those gear boxes at an alarming rate, even blew the diff out of the casing once

If your swinging on the gear leaver like a rock ape then even the best of them will give up over time you might want to look out for an auto

I'm surprised 30psi hasn't got 15 of them in a garage somewhere
