Default K & N 57i - 57-0150 kit for 1.8 L silvia turbo

anybody uses this kit? does it actually help the car's performance or is it just a glorified and expensive flex hose that comes with K&N cone filter? from the pics that floating around in the net, all I see is K&N filter with some sort of bracket and maf adapter, and a flex hose.

if it just a flex hose, flex ducting hose can be had for cheap from your local homehardware store.

i should imagine it has a small performance gain of maybe 1 -2hp over a regular induction filter. There more suitable to small normally aspirated hot hatches with crammed engine bays. For performance per pound its definately not worth the money.
A decent intercooler is the best thing you can do for the s12's intake system
