if so then the pistons are actually weaker then as i doubt they would survive running that much power.

what steel rods are they? they look pretty tough

i got my car in 99' because of a thrown rod, my mate had it at the time, big hole in the block, i bought the car, and a second hand engine. mine is also without the rev limiter.

ahh also the engine that threw the rod, was put together by none other than mr pete rosenberg.

so could have been a weakness there.

PMSL proper funny, i laughed whilst drinking coffee, now all over screen..

never heard of or seen thrown rod in the scimitars but they came from the factory with bluebird ecus with the limiters. before i bought my current car, the guy had SE build the engine with std rods but JE pistons and he revved to 7,5k on track all the time, upping the aftremarket limiter to 8,5k on certain tracks it ran like that for 4 years but the engine gave up on me 6 months into my first season with the car. i revved it to 7.5k which in hindsight was too much for the valve train not the rods.
ive seen a few scim engines go bang through valve retainers breaking the end off the valve and dropping the valve, grenading the engine (thats what killed my original and teh Graham Walker scim race car engine too (with titanium retainers. i use DET Pauters and modfied DET wisecos pistons in current engine and set limiter to 7,2k to save valve train

i didnt have titanium retainers but the walkers engine had originally. i believe Oselli Engineering did most of the engine work on that car and made them as one-offs. cant iamgine how much they would have cost

Last ET throwing a rod I can remember is Eddie Ratdats in a Nissan Parie, actually that threw two rods, but it was ragged hard, can't rember if it was a mk1 or 2 lump though.
